Mr. Malicke's Broadcasting classes video tape, produce and edit the high school announcements daily. These announcements are available for teachers to show throughout the day and are also shown daily during lunch. Now, these daily announcements are available to be viewed on the High School website. Parents, students, and community members can now keep up to date with important updates by watching these daily broadcasts.
On the "Quick Links" on the left of the High School website, there is a "Daily Announcements" link. The announcements are usually posted by 10:30 AM and are available everyday students are in school.
Beginning January 17, 2012, Brandon High School students can start using the "Blackhawk Hotline". This is a program where students are given a number to call or text concerns at the high school. The message is instantly forwarded to the main office where Mr. Tucker, Assistant Principal, will manage incoming messages, and determine the appropriate course of action.
Students can report safety concerns or any other issues pertaining to the high school by texting the hotline. Our students now have the ability to express concerns and report incidents without other students knowing. "The idea is to give students more anonymity in reporting incidents that normally would go unreported," stated Deputy Ken Aldermen, School Resource Officer with Brandon Schools.
This program is being modeled after a similar program launched with success by Flushing High School. Students may use the hotline before or after school, between classes, or in class with the teacher's permission. This is a new and exciting opportunity for the students, parents, and staff of Brandon High School.
