A Message from Superintendent Outlaw

Re:  Brandon Teacher of the Year for the 2016-17 School Year

The district is now accepting nominations for the Brandon Teacher of the Year for the 2016-17 school year.  The following is key information related to the nomination process:

a.  Nomination form must be filled out and submitted to the coordinator (Superintendent Outlaw...please send to Maria Schubring at mschubring@brandon.k12.mi.us) by Friday, January 20th, 5:00 p.m.

b.  Nominees must meet the following standards set by Oakland Schools to be considered:
  • Nominees must be certified, full time teachers in grade K-12. 
  • Nominees must have a minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience.
c.  The selection team will review nominees and may select 2 winners as follows:
  • Secondary (6-12)
  • Elementary (K-5)
d.  The selection committee may consider the following when selecting the candidates:
  • Exemplary performance in the classroom as evidenced through student growth as measured by student test scores or other objective measures.
  • A teacher's effectiveness rating on their most recent teacher evaluation.
  • Significant, relevant accomplishments and contributions to the overall performance of the school.
  • Other significant evidence of going above and beyond for Brandon students.
e.  Application will be submitted to Oakland Schools no later than Thursday, February 9, 2017.
