News and Notes for Brandon High School for the Week of April 12, 2021
 
 
Week of April 12th Schedule:
Monday – “B” Day (Hours 4-6)
Tuesday – Testing for 9th and 11th grade students, Asynchronous Learning for 10th and 12th
Wednesday – Testing for 10th and 11th grade students, Asynchronous learning for 9th and 12th
Thursday – “A” Day (Hours 1-3)
Friday – “B” Day (Hours 4-6)
 
COVID U
pdate:  As the state of Michigan starts to spike in COVID positive cases, the Oakland County Health Department has changed its quarantine period for all people that come in direct contact with someone that has been diagnosed with COVID.  Therefore, any students that is quarantined through the Brandon School District will now have a 14-day quarantine instead of the previous 10-day quarantine.  The 10-day quarantine will stay in effect for those that test positive.  Please see the Frequently Asked Questions Document put out by the Oakland County Health Department for updated information.
 
More Testing Details
Tuesday, April 13th -  All freshmen and juniors will attend school on this day for PSAT 9 and SAT 11 testing.  Sophomores and seniors will do asynchronous learning from home on this day. The day will start at its normal time (7:20) and release when testing completes around 11:30 for freshmen and around 12:30 for juniors. Students are free to drive home, or get picked up once testing is complete.  Although we are encouraging students to go home after testing, those students who are in need of bussing, can stay at BHS until the regular release time of 1:50 and ride the bus home with middle school students.
 
Wednesday, April 14th – All sophomores and juniors will attend school on this day for PSAT 10 and Work Keys 11 testing.  Freshmen and seniors will do asynchronous learning from home on this day.  The day will start at its normal time (7:20) and release when testing completes around 11:30 for both groups of students. Students are free to drive home, or get picked up once testing is complete. Although we are encouraging students to go home after testing, those students who are in need of bussing, can stay at BHS until the regular release time of 1:50 and ride the bus home with middle school students.
 
Tuesday, April 20th – All juniors will take MSTEP testing on this day.  All students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will have classes as normal (“A” Day – Hours 1-3).
 
Dress Code:  With the weather heating up, please make sure that your student is adhering to the BHS dress code.  Please be aware that students violating this dress code will have to sit in the main office until proper attire can be brought to them to change into.  Thank you for your cooperation with this.
 
Internet Security:  The Brandon Groveland Youth Assistance in conjunction with the Brandon Library are hosting a Virtual Internet Safety Seminar on April 20th at 7:00.  Please see the attached flyer for more details. 
 
Suicide Prevention:  Did you know that suicide is the second leading cause of death for teenagers in America?  Please help us prevent this by attending a Suicide Prevention Virtual webinar on Monday, April 12th.  This would be appropriate for high school students as well as adults.  See the attached flyer for more details. 
 
Dates to Place on Your Calendar Now:                    
April 13th – SAT (11th) and PSAT (9th) testing.  10th and 12th grade students stay home and do classes asynchronously. 
April 14th – Work Keys (11th) and PSAT (10th) testing 9th and 12th grade students stay home and do classes asynchronously.
April 16th – End of Marking Period 3      
April 20th – MSTEP testing for all Juniors
April 23rd – Report Cards Come Home
