After graduating from Brandon in 2006, Tyler Cole has traveled the world, gradu-
ated with High Honors from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science
in Microbiology/Bacteriology in 2009, and is now getting ready to graduate from the
Stanford School of Medicine in May. We sat down with him to see what he has planned
next.
What has driven you into neurosurgery?
It was a combination of things. I started medical school without a certain path I was
planning on taking. I actually thought I was going to do internal medicine, but when
that rotation came around I found I didn’t enjoy it much. Right after my internal medi-
cine rotation, though, I had my surgery rotation. The beginning of it was fairly difficult,
but after you figure out the routine it becomes a lot of fun. The pace, the intricacy of
