Continuing Education Update

Don't let COVID-19 discourage you from learning something new!!  Winter/Spring 2021 enrichment classes are being offered to both youth and adults.  Most will be done virtually; therefore, anyone can participate.  You don't need to live in the community or attend Brandon Schools to enroll in these programs.  Financial assistance is available for some classes to Brandon students who qualify.  Email Rachel at This email address is being protected from spambots. YOUTH ENRICHMENT:

Live Safe Academy: in-person and virtual classes are offered (many dates to choose from)

Certified Babysitter Safety/CPR/First Aid and Safe Home Alone

Certified Pet Sitter/CPR/First Aid (Babysitter class is a prerequisite)

Self-Defense for Children

 

Mad Science classes: Hands-on science experiments, live virtual classes - 4-5 WEEK PROGRAMS

PRESCHOOL - Little Learners - Ages 3-5 - Students receive their own Experiment Pack and will engage in activities related to sight, sound, the human body & nutrition

Animals & Energy - Grades K-5 - Topics include: All About Animals, Life In the Sea, Energy Burst!, Moving Motion, and Super Power Sources

Fantastic Forces and Flight - Grades K-5 - Topics include: Fun-damental Forces, Science of Magic, Fantastic Fliers, Super Structures, and Under Pressure

Amazing Magnets & More! - Grades K-5 - Topics include: Magnetic Magic, Mission: Nutrition, Optical Illusions, Watts Up, and Harnessing Heat

 

Challenge Island classes: Hands-on STEAM projects, live virtual classes - 6 WEEK PROGRAMS

PRESCHOOL - Rainforest Island - Ages 4-6 - students complete challenges with an Amazon theme

FAMILY - Familly Game Night - ALL AGES - learn about cool sports and the STEAM behind them, create and play your games

Time Machine Island - Grades 6-8 and Grades K-5 - students go back in time to complete a STEAM activity related to that time

Mythology Island - Ages 6-12 - students will travel back to ancient Greece to take on myth-worthy challenges

STEAM Tank Entrepreneurs - Grades 6-8 and Grades K-5 - students learn about different types of businesses and complete STEAM activities

PRESCHOOL Great White Bridges - Ages 4-6 - learn about bridges from around the world and create your own

Astronaut Lunar Landing - Ages 6-12 - learn about the first lunar landing and build your own lunar lander

Pro Basketball Arena - Ages 6-12 - learn about how the NCAA tournament works, inspirational players, and build an arena of your own

 

ADULT ENRICHMENT:

Intro to Woodcarving - This class will introduce you to basic woodcarving.  Learn the history, tools, techniques, etc.  It is taught by a local instructor via Zoom.

Visualize Your Healthy Self - This class gives you a taste of what it's like to work with a health coach.  Focus will be on what foods fuel us what foods drain us.

Crime Prevention & Response - This class offers information about personal safety and safety in your home and vehicle.

Self-Defense - Learn simple, lifesaving skills to protect yourself and your family.

Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED - IN-PERSON hands-on certification class. Learn how to respond effectively to emergency situations.
