Clarification 1 Door Access

Request for clarification #1

  1. How will address the 1 button press lockdown if not putting access control on all doors?

The proposed solution shall support one-button lockdown functionality for all network-connected (“online”) access-controlled doors included in this project scope. Doors not included in this phase may continue utilizing existing physical lockdown hardware or approved wireless/offline solutions where applicable.

Existing physical nightlocks or privacy-function hardware may remain in use on doors not included in this phase, subject to applicable code and life-safety requirements.

  1. Do you want to lockdown a district or school by school?

The proposed system should offer the ability to lockdown the entire system (All district doors, or individually by building. (BHS, BMS, Harvey-Swanson, Oakwood, Transportation)

  1. Is there an allowance for equipment that is failed ie: door strikes, cable?

Existing failed infrastructure identified during implementation that is outside the defined project scope will be evaluated and addressed separately by the district as funding permits.

  1. Are you only utilizing cards for credentials or do you have interest in fobs, mobile, etc?

Mobile credentials and fobs are desirable future capabilities but are not required for the base bid except for limited pilot users if proposed.

  1. Please provide IDF/MDF locations for cable runs and clarify you are providing switch ports?

MDF/IDF locations have been added to the requestable google share of photo documentation.

The district will provide reasonable switch port availability and network connectivity at designated MDF/IDF locations unless otherwise noted by the bidder.

  1. You mention wanting to monitor door status in RFP but you would need to have door contacts, rex’s etc on all doors but all are not accounted for. How you propose we meet that spec?

Bidders should propose standard door monitoring hardware necessary to meet the specifications where practical. If additional hardware requirements significantly increase per-door costs, bidders may provide alternate recommendations and clearly identify any omitted functionality in their proposal.

  1. Can you list the firmware versions of all panels throughout the building and firmware of the lenel S2 system that’s currently being run?

Main Node:

Software Version:

5.2.3, Date installed: 7/9/2020, 8:40:09 AM, Node Revision: 169

Software Revision:

620+9f8365803

The nodes do not list firmware revision in the main S2 interface.

  1. count on classrooms with exit devices and which type?

Approximately eight classroom doors currently utilize push/panic bar hardware rather than lever-handle configurations

The Choice Is Yours!

Music is an integral part of student life at Brandon. With a variety of bands and choirs from the elementary schools to the high school, we have something for any musical interest.

Virtual learning has taken hold at Brandon. With a menu of options to meet special academic requests and scheduling conflicts, our virtual school has seen tremendous growth.

Academics are a priority at all grade levels. With advanced and honors opportunities at the lower grades to a large AP offering, we can challenge even the most motivated students.

Graduation is just the beginning. Recent graduates have matriculated at MIT, University of Chicago, University of Michigan, Michigan State, and many other excellent schools.

Athletics bring our community together. Competing in the Flint Metro League, our Blackhawks regularly compete for league titles and berths in the state tournament.

Technology is part of our fabric. Each school in our district is equipped with state of the art technology, highlighted by a 1:1 device to student ratio at Harvey-Swanson Elementary.
